In April 2023, a federal decision prioritized unaccompanied minors in the EB-4 visa category over R-1 visa holders, causing a massive backlog.

This has forced R-1 visa holders, who play a crucial role in the U.S., to leave their positions and return home.

They can no longer extend their stay or apply for permanent residency due to retrogression of action dates.

The situation is urgent, as it undermines critical sectors and jeopardizes the contributions of religious workers in the U.S.

Religious freedoms are at stake, as every day thousands of religious workers draw closer to imminent departure of this country.
